Leaking urine is one of the least-discussed consequences of aging, having babies and being overweight. Laughing, sneezing and coughing are often the first triggers of incontinence that get our attention. Talk with us about your concerns. Depending on your symptoms, we have several treatments that may help.
Pelvic floor muscles weakened by age, childbearing and extra body weight can lead to involuntary loss of urine, also known as urinary incontinence. Kegel exercises or more extensive pelvic floor physical therapy can help strengthen the muscles, but they take time and persistence. The Emsella Chair is a chair designed to administer electromagnetic pulses to those muscles, causing them to contract and relax in rapid sequence. Treatments are administered while you are fully clothed and they last about a half hour. Several treatments (usually 4-6) are recommended, with an annual treatment often advised. There is no downtime after a treatment, and some improvement may occur immediately, with results building with each treatment.
CO2 Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation
Collagen production slows down with age, and collagen production is one factor that stimulates cell turnover (new cell production). Cell turnover helps keep vaginal and urinary tissues strong and healthy. Treatments with a CO2 laser can stimulate collagen production and thus cell renewal, and these delicate surfaces are rejuvenated. A series of treatments is usually recommended to get the best results, but improvement may be noticed after the first treatment and results build with each treatment. The treatment can cause some mild discomfort, but there is no downtime. Most women can safely resume all normal activity within about four days after treatment.
